What fame is
Fame is Albion's experience points. There are no character levels: every weapon, armor piece, gathering tool and crafting line has its own node on the Destiny Board, and fame fills the node for whatever you are using or making. Leveling a node lets you use the next tier of that gear and, past that, adds specialization levels that raise its item power or cut its focus cost.
Fame goes to what you are actually doing: kill mobs and the fame goes to the gear you are wearing, gather ore and it goes to ore gathering, craft swords and it goes to sword crafting.
How to see your fame
- Per node, in game: open the Destiny Board (the B key by default). Each node shows its level and a progress bar; hover it to see how much fame the next level needs.
- As you earn it: fame pops up over your character for every kill, gathered resource or craft.
- Your lifetime totals: search your character name on the official killboard at albiononline.com. It shows kill and death fame, PvE fame split by Royal, Outlands, Avalon, Hellgates, corrupted dungeons and the Mists, gathering fame per resource, and crafting, fishing and farming fame.
Where fame comes from
| Activity | Fame goes to | More fame from |
|---|---|---|
| Combat (mobs, dungeons) | The weapon and armor you wear | Higher-tier mobs, more dangerous zones, dungeon bosses |
| Gathering | That resource's gathering line | Higher-tier and enchanted resources |
| Crafting | The item's crafting line | Higher tiers: fame scales with the resources an item uses |
| Refining | That resource's refining line | Higher tiers |
| Farming and fishing | Farming or fishing | Higher-tier crops, animals and fish |
Getting more fame per hour
- Premium gives +50% fame on everything you do.
- Learning points: premium gives 30 a day, and without premium you get 10 a day from the daily challenge. With Quick Learn switched on, fame you earn is multiplied by five while the points drain. They don't expire, so you can save them for the slow, expensive levels.
- Tomes of Insight add combat fame to the gear you are wearing the moment you use them. The Adept's Tome of Insight is traded on the market, so it is a way to buy fame with silver. Gathering has its own tomes, like the Adept Ore Miner Tome.
- Satchel of Insight: a bag that adds bonus fame while you wear it.
- Group content (group dungeons, Hellgates, Avalonian Roads) kills tougher mobs much faster than you can alone, which is where most combat fame comes from later on.
Maxed nodes and fame credits
Once a node is fully maxed, fame you earn on it isn't wasted: it turns into fame credits. Credits are bound to your character and you spend them on the Destiny Board to level other nodes. You can also convert mastery levels on a node into credits for a silver fee, which is how players move progress from one weapon to another.
Getting paid while you level
Fame costs time, so the best way to level is with something that also earns silver. Two easy ones:
- Craft or refine things that profit. Crafting and refining fame is the same whether the run makes or loses silver, so pick runs that make it. The scanners rank them by profit with live prices.
- Fill laborer journals. An empty journal fills up with fame as you craft, gather or fight, and filled journals sell on the market or feed your island laborers. That is extra silver on fame you were earning anyway.
